One step closer...

Something pretty special happened yesterday...

We got that letter we were waiting for!  Yippee!  My loverpoobum (new name?) is able to finally get his permanent residency.  I was hoping that this was going to be the FINAL step, but apparently the travel document we sent in with the application wasn't acceptable.  They're now requiring him to get a passport or other travel document, photocopy it and send it in so they can continue processing everything.

This only slightly makes me mad, because first of all, what we submitted for his initial travel document was a copy of his enhanced license... which is considered a travel document, and is used for US/Canadian citizens to cross the border without the need for a passport. It makes no sense to me why that wouldn't be acceptable. So now he has an appointment in the next couple of weeks to visit the US embassy here and apply for a stinkin passport.  On the bright side though, this is the final step, and the letter we got said that he can finally apply for a work permit so he can get a job! yay!

Oh the struggles of two people in love *sigh* haha.  Can't wait for this to be over!

  5. oh, i totally get what you mean! My husband and I have been trying to get a flat here ever since we got married last November, and now we can't even get the loan to process smoothly! Oh the documents we have to go through, and prices of properties are sky-rocketing! and I'm so worried that we will not be able to afford a house of our own soon.
