self portrait saturday!

It's been a while since I took any photos with my hair up. I used to live with my hair up. I hated the feeling of it down. I don't know what changed, but leaving it down is now my norm.

If you're just joining us for Self Portrait Saturday, this is a little series I started about a month or so ago to encourage you ladies to take the reigns and step in front of your cameras. Sometimes there is an optional theme that I announce during the week on my blog or Facebook page, and sometimes it's just a free-for-all, like today. I think it's important that we celebrate ourselves and become self aware.  These photos are a learning experience, in a way. How can you improve from one photo to the next... from one week to the next? Become aware of your features and body through the lens and learn to embrace them. Don't be shy, be proud. You are unique and the only you.

Instead of doing these every week, I decided to do them every second weekend. All you need is a camera and yourself. Take the shots, pick the best ones, and put them into a blog post along with this button below so others can join in. Link up your blog post below!

What I'm still learning:
How to work my face in front of the camera. So often my mouth does such wonky things. My lip naturally curves up on one side so it's hard to pull off some straight-faced moments with everything being symmetrical. I'm also still learning how to take full body shots. I find it extremely difficult given the lack of open areas I have to work with here. Maybe when the weather warms up again. Show me what you've got!

  3. I know exactly how you feel! My mouth does weird things in front of camera all the time. Turns out the pictures, I didn't know a picture was taken from me, are the most natural and in my opinion the most beautiful.
Still love the idea and of course the lovely photos.
Very inspiring blog post! Definately following you now (:

  11. I adore this. You look so stunning.
I'm generally terrible at self-portraiture, so perhaps I'll join you on this.

  12. LOL I've totally become the opposite - couldn't stand to have my hair up, now I can hardly stand to have it down unless it's straightened and smooth.
