Recently I've been a little bit obsessed with brightly coloured denim. I have a little collection happening in my closet and am kind of excited about this spring trend! At the same time though, I've seen/heard some people shy away from those beautiful brights because they have no idea how to wear them. I had one girl tell me that she flat out couldn't wear them because she thought she was too large in the lower half. Crazy, I say!
I believe that anybody can wear coloured jeans, you just have to know how to do it right and pair them with other colours or patterns that compliment each other. After all, we're not trying to attract so much attention to your uncomfortable areas. The general idea is that you don't want to look like a highlighter. You need to balance that bright colour with a more calming colour so you're not a head-to-toe walking rainbow.
I thought that I would start posting pics of coloured jeans incorporated into outfits so you can get some new ideas on how to wear them, and what to pair them with. So over the next couple of weeks, I'll share a few different colours with you all! I'm calling this little series "Colour Confident" because I want you to be confident in those colours!
So let's get to it!
With this outfit, I paired my bright turquoise jeans with a beige knit tank and brown cardigan. I added some accessories that contained bits of turquoise as well to tie it all together.
This look is really very simple, but doesn't that pop of colour just take it to another level? Love! Are you down with the coloured denim trend?
Jeans & halo: Forever 21
Tank: by Mink Pink from Shopbop
Cardi: Urban Outfitters
Necklace: Gifted

Oh lovely I have a pair of mint jeans that I have started wearing but they pick up too much dirt for my day to day wear so am looking for a new bright pair.
ReplyDeleteThis will give me some good inspiration :D
I have been desperate for some turquoise skinny jeans for ages. And just as I was plucking up the courage to actually buy some, I've fallen pregnant. Yay for babies, but grrrr for fashion. I may have to see if I can find some maternity ones as I DO NOT want to be a boring old frumpy pregnant lady. x
ReplyDeleteLove these turquoise skinnies!
ReplyDeleteI have been pairing my bright denim with neutrals too. Anything lese seems like too much color!
Love your confidence, and LOVING the combination of the neutrals and turquoise!
ReplyDeleteI love this trend too, but I can't find any in my size. I'm not HUGE, but I have hips so that makes me a 12-14. Anywhere I look (Target, Forever 21, etc) they only carry them in juniors sizes and they're LOW cut, which makes me get more of a muffin top.
ReplyDeleteIf you (or anyone else) can suggest where I can find them in women's sizes that aren't frumpy looking and aren't LOW cut (regular or higher cut would be idea), I'd appreciate it!!!
Love this outfit (and those jeans!). :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for specifically talking about the curvy girls here! I loooooooove colored denim but I'm always afraid it draws attention to my thighs. On your advice, though, I'm going to give it a shot with some earthy neutrals...I'll let you know how it goes.

Great combo!
ReplyDeleteI like that color! Very pretty. The only brightly colored pair of pants I have are red. I would love to have some emerald green, though.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a fan of the colored denim trend and need to scout a good pair to last me the spring and summer! Thanks for the inspiration, Dana. :)

Very cute! I love colored denim. Being that I don't actually own any Polyvore is my inspiration for them right now. I put together an outfit I want to purchase the included turquoise skinny jeans, a sheer polka dot tunic, brown strapy sandals, color block purse and one of those necklaces that have spikes pointing downward. I am excited to get some bday cash so I can actually go purchase those items!
ReplyDeletei love any colored jeans!
ReplyDeleteof course love your turquoise one ;)
