weekend stuff

Farewell, gorgeous weekend! I love living out of the city so much. I'm a complete country girl through and through and am pretty sure I've been this way since birth. Nothing beats waking up to the sunshine beaming through the abundance of trees and landing right in your bedroom. The weather was perfect this weekend which made for an awesome Mother's Day. We headed up to my mom's place, which is my childhood home and spent the day out on the patio.  I am super bummed that I didn't stop along the way to snap any photos. The drive there is just gorgeous... green hills for miles along a country road. We stopped at a couple garden markets along the way and picked up some yummy treats that I'll likely be paying for later!

My brother, his wife, and her pregnant little belly were there also. She is almost six months along now and I got to feel his little baby kicks. First time I've ever felt that before and it was so awesome! I might have squealed like a little girl...

Next time, I promise photos. How did you spend the weekend? Are you a city person or a country lover like me?

  3. This city girl pretended she was in the country all weekend. B and I did a service project at his school and then disappeared so far into the park that we couldn't even hear the cars. It was awesome :)

So glad to hear that you had a great weekend with your bro, sis in law, and the bump! Good weekends make great memories <3

  4. Country girl all the way. There are things I like about the city, but nothing relaxes me more than being waaay out in open spaces away from the every day rush.

Not long ago, I felt my nephew's kicks inside my sister's belly. I had felt baby kicks before, but nothing was quite like feeling the little feet that would soon be my first nephew. It was awesome.

    1. Me too! There are wonderful things about escaping to the country, but I love to wobble home in 4" heels after a night of drinks!

  7. Our Mother's Day weather sucked :( Rainy and cold. So sad...

I'm a beach girl really, I guess...I don't like huge cities, but I'm not a big fan of backwoods Country either. I'm somewhere in the middle.

  10. I love both, but definitely a city girl. I love horses and big open fields, but being in the city makes me feel... important, ha! I went shopping with my mom and Anthropologie and we watched War Horse together and cried.

  11. denver is perfect for me because it's an equal opportunity location for big city activities and mountain adventuring. i thrive on that balance. by the way, your smoky eye makeup in this photo is to die for!

And I'm both -- love the city, live in quite a big one here in Melbourne, but adoooooore the country.

(Espesh the mountainous and tranquil countryside of the fmr Yugoslavia with its sloping landscapes, pine trees and crystal-clear rivers and creeks...siiiiiigh!)

  14. Feeling a baby kick is one of the most incredible things ever! I'm a bit of both city and country though I've always opted for the city over the country - I do love getting away to my cabin though :)
