OPI: James Bond 007 Skyfall Collection Review

Obsessed.  The only way I can describe how I feel about the new OPI Skyfall collection. This collection was created in celebration of the 50 year anniversary of James Bond 007. As a girl who spent many days of my childhood playing GoldenEye 007 on Nintendo 64, I couldn't help but be excited.

Ok, so I'm teasing you little, because this collection doesn't even come out until October. It was inspired by glamour and danger, and I seriously feel like stepping into a leather dress, dark sunglasses, and 6" heels with a (fake) gun strapped around my thigh when I paint it on. Skyfall will be available in twelve striking shades as a limited edition promotion in October, and I definitely suggest you check it out. There will also be a super special edition polish that I'll get to in a minute... Here are a few of my favourites from the line (with some swatches!):

Live and Let Die - It's a dark jet black with tiny specks of gold throughout. It kind of has a greenish tint and I only needed two coats for full coverage. As a black polish lover, it's amazing.

Tomorrow Never Dies - A super pretty royal purple. Appears a bit more purple than this photo, but I tried my best. Love this colour because it is unlike anything else I own. 2-3 coats does the job. Goes on a little more sheer than Live and Let Die.

The Living Daylights - This is seriously a party in a bottle and would be awesome for New Years. It is packed full of multicoloured glitter sparkles in gold, silver, aqua, and orange. I found there to be plenty of them, unlike other sparkle polishes that have you continuously dipping the brush to grab onto more. I applied it using my glitter nail polish trick.

Finally, The Man With The Golden Gun. This is that super special one I mentioned above. It's a limited edition REAL 18k gold top coat! Seriously, there is real gold on my nails right now. If that doesn't make a girl feel special, I don't know what will.  It's a gorgeous gold leaf polish that works well over so many colours. I also applied it using my glitter nail polish trick!!  It even comes in a fancy box and bottle to make you feel even more chic. This one will also be available in October and will retail for just under $40.

What do you think of these shades? Which is your favourite? And would you buy a real gold nail polish??

  1. This line looks really cool!

But I must admit, my jaw dropped at the thought of spending $40 for nail polish. My nail polish always chips after a couple days, and I feel like I would just start crying. hahaha.

  2. These colors are really pretty! I usually go more natural, but I think I would try most of these out.

I love the effect of the gold nail polish, and the though of having real gold on my fingernails sounds pretty amazing, but I doubt I'd ever buy it. No nail polish is worth $40 to me, when it's just going to chip a few days later.

  3. $40 for nail polish? Yeah, right! That's crazy.

I like them all but the one that I want to try out most is the black. I love black, but every black nail polish I have ever gotten has sucked badly.

  4. Wow super cool you got to try these out before they come out!! I like the black with gold specs the best! In the fall, black is my go to color! I really like the gold top coat, but would not drop $40 on it. It looks amazing though!

  7. I think this new line is gorgeous! I like the Live and Let Die. I don't usually do gold, but that 18k crackle is WOWEE! I couldn't pay 40.00 for it, but ask my daughter who is able to get goodies wholesale, if she could get it as a Christmas Gift! Heh heh, as long as I can get my Jo Ann's gift card, too!!! (I am a craftoholic.) Oh, and recently I counted my bottles of nail polish, and I have about 75 OPI alone. Yeah, I know. I hoard, too! And no, of those, my daughter only got me maybe two or three. Of course, I have other brands besides those also. But before I moved I passed on loads of bottles of polish. Some brand new, never used. What can I say? I'm crazy about girly stuff and craft stuff!!!!! :D

    1. I know! Maybe they'll do a replica with a kind of fake gold leaf or something for us who don't have all the money in the world to spend on nail polish.. Saying that though i think I'm probably going to end up getting most of this collection as they're all ones I really really want :)

  27. As much as I love the idea of The Man With the Golden Gun, I just can't get behind spending that much on a single bottle of polish. I just can't. I already spend hundreds of dollars a year on polish for my blog and I just can't justify it especially if it's not one I'll wear often (as this would only be for special occasions).

  29. See, I am 100% interested in the Gold polish. Primarily because I'm a major James Bond fan (have been my entire life), and I probably wouldn't use it often at all. It's a collector's item - and those aren't cheap!
