New design for the new year!
Well... here it is!! My brand new blog design! I don't know what inspired this one really. I was dying for a splash of colour but also wanted to simplify things with blacks and whites. I'm not a very greyscale kinda girl, so this is what it turned into. I quite like it! I've also condensed things and added new stuff. Take a peek around! What do you think???

ReplyDeleteDon't get me wrong. Though the new design looks nice, I feel it is too cluttered. There is so much going on here that I am getting a bit lost. I loved the color and treatment however if it would have been less cluttered, I would have loved it.
Nonetheless awesome job!

I am still playing around with the sidebar and trying to de-clutter it. I'm phasing out some ad sizes so have to wait until the current ones expire. It will get a little cleaner! I also don't think it helps that input an image of the layout inside this post haha. It's like double the layout and a little much to take in.

Its a big difference from the last one (I really liked it). I think maybe its the black clashing.

ReplyDeleteI really like the idea behind it, but feel as if it's a bit too wide. Not sure everyone's resolution is high enough for everything to fit, as even at 1280x800 not everything fits without scrolling.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the new graphics. The style is great and it's super-cute! Maybe make the "back to top" orange or green? The black really pops and it's distracting on that element.
I know you said your sidebars will become less cluttered when ads expire and you change sizes, so maybe when that happens you can make it just a bit narrower so it fits on more screens better. =]
Overall, I really love it and can't wait to see it when you've finished tweaking!

Thanks for all the input guys! I've just tweaked it and made it thinner overall ... same size as last layout. Hopefully this solves the scrolling issues for some of you.

ReplyDeleteI do think your sidebars are too cluttered, this was also the case with your previous design. I'm a big fan of having 1 sidebar instead of 2, makes it a lot cleaner. You could also save some space by displaying your archives as a dropdown menu.
I would also make the height of the comment headers much smaller. I think they're a bit heavy on the eye because they're black.
And the post-body isn't lining up with the post-title.
Just my 2 cents, still love everything else, especially the header, the fonts and the colors. Nicely done.
