The Free-Spirited Christmas (Branch) Tree

I’m not sure what inspired me to create this off-beat piece of Christmas wall art. I found this branch on the road outside of my house and brought it inside, where it sat for about a week while I contemplated what to do with it. The idea popped into my head to turn this into a piece of holiday art somehow, but where to start!?

I grabbed a large picture frame I had hanging on my wall and turned it vertically. Using fishing line, I carefully tied the branches to the frame at the sides and bottom. From there, I just grabbed some colourful ornaments and went a little crazy. Is this piece for everybody? Probably not, but it has a certain charm about it I think. It reminds me of something out of a Free People look book. It would work well in small spaces where you can’t have an actual Christmas tree, and you can use ornaments that match your decor! Total cost: zero dollars… and all you need is a good branch.

Did I go a little nuts with this one, or do you like the idea?
