who are you?

Since I've been noticing a lot of new readers around these parts lately, I thought it would be fun to get to know some of you!  I love interacting and hearing your comments so... let's talk!  Introduce yourself in a comment below and tell me some fun facts about yourself :)  Even if you're a long-time reader or just one who rarely comments, this post is for you!

For those that are fairly new, I'll start you out:

I'm Dana and I live in Canada with my American-turned-Canadian fiance named Dustin.
I am lately obsessed with smoothies and drink them numerous times a day.  Mr. Sub is my favourite fast food place even though I used to work at Subway.  My style is casual and comfy and I pretty much buy all of my clothes online.  I cannot hold my head under water and will punch you if you try to push me into a pool.  I dream of traveling to exotic places if only I wasn't frightened of planes. I have 3 devilish but oh-so-sweet kitties and a little marshmallow of a pup.  I love summer bonfires and garage sales.   Who are you??

Can you believe that the first month of this year is over already?? With the month coming to a close, I wanted to give a shoutout to all of my January sponsors that were amazing this month. Since a lot of you view the mobile version of this site or use a reader, you might not always see my sidebar, so I wanted to introduce you to some awesome blogs/shops! I hope you take the time to check them all out!

Valentines Day Pink Date Makeup Tutorial

Today's DIY session took a little longer than normal, but finally here it is!  This is day 11 of the series and my second last post, so enjoy!

I wanted to give you ladies a little tutorial for some Valentine's day inspired makeup which would be totally date worthy!  We're talking totally pink and glam!  I had a little fun with false eyelashes this time around.  Though I'm not a huge fan of them, I do believe some occasions call for a little something extra!  Here's the look:

messy.

Lately I've been having hair issues. It's getting so long that I have no idea what to do with it anymore. Hoping this is just a stage and that once it grows out a little more I'll be able to work with it. Until then... messy hair all the way! Any tips, ladies?

lusting over

Just some current things I'm lusting over. That watch needs to be mine asap. Also, I've had my eye on that Deer Head ring by Wildfox for a little while. I am kind of obsessed with anything Wildfox if you haven't caught on to that by now... and they just started making jewelry this season... not just any jewelry, jewelry that is right up my alley... and I rarely even wear accessories so that's saying a lot. (Is my fiance reading this? hint hint!).

I've also decided to start wearing more dresses this summer. I sometimes really hate that I live in a country that has to worry about season changes because more often than not I get incredibly jealous seeing fashion bloggers rocking skirts and tank tops at this time of year. That is just not possible here... but if you'd like to see pics of me in my parka and salt stained boots freezing my buns off in a pile of snow, I can make it happen, haha.

1. Lipsy Floral Detail Dress
2. Nixon Oversized Time Teller Watch
3. Wildfox I Left My Heart Roadtrip Sweater
4. Kate Spade - Call To Action Terry Bag
5. Wildfox Deer Head Ring
6. Yumi Ruffle Dress
7. Jeffrey Campbell France Wrap Strap Boots

Can I also add a new keyboard to this list? Mine has been slowly dying this past week and I'm pretty sure it hates me for blogging so much.

DIY Love-Filled Felt Fortune Cookies!

Welcome to the ninth day of the series! Yesterday, Heather showed you how to make some totally amazing lip balm using Koolaid!  I am dying to try it! If you missed any projects, you can view them on my blog here and on Heather's blog here.

Before I get started, I also wanted to say that today is the birthday of the Wonder Forest shop!  It was one year ago today that I decided to open up an Etsy shop and get the ball rolling! Because of that, I am offering 15% off in my NEW shop until Feb 1st with code "BDAY"! <3 Thank you for all of your support and love over the course of this very eventful year!!

Alright on with it! Today is all about the couples! I have to admit to borrowing this idea from Martha, but I substituted some things... that's enough to create my own DIY out of it right? ;)

We're going to make some super cute felt fortune cookies! This is so easy and you can get as innocent or as risky as you want with the fortunes ;)

First you will need the following supplies:
  • Felt
  • Your own fortunes printed on paper
  • Twist ties or a thin wire
  • Glue gun or fabric/tacky glue
  • Ribbon

First you need to cut your felt into circles. My circles were about 3.5" in diameter.

Then, grab a twist tie (cut to size if needed) and glue it onto the center of your circle. I found that using 2 twist ties was a little better, but this will depend on how strong the wires are.

Grab a matching ribbon and glue it on top of the twist tie to hide all of it's ugliness.

Pop your fortune inside!

Pinch the top of your cookie together...

... Then bend it from the bottom wires into that classic fortune cookie shape.

Give them to your lover and watch him open up all his love-filled fortunes! I'd love to know what you thought of this tutorial! What are some cute fortunes others could put inside their cookies?

Like my nails? That tutorial is here!
