How to Create a Google Plus Page For Your Blog or Business

Since many of you are joining me over on Google Plus, I thought it would benefit you to know how to create a Page for your business, blog, or organization.  Just like on Facebook, Google Plus Pages do not contain any of your personal information.  I know that finding things on the G+ website can be a little bit of a headache, so I'm going to make it really easy for you:

Go here to create your page.

If you haven't signed up, you can now do so, but if you already have a Google Plus personal profile, you can just add a Page to your account.  Choose the proper category that represents your Page:

Then just enter your information, the name of your page, and link to your external website if you have one:

Complete the rest of the signup to create your Page. Now when you sign onto your Google Plus account, you can access your Page and switch between accounts by clicking on your profile photo in the top right corner:

You can then get to work and change your cover photo, update your Page's info, and start collecting fans! The cover page dimensions are huge, at 2120x1192 max., but will resize to fit different screen resolutions. Personally I think this huge header is ridiculous, but what can you do?

Currently Google Plus does not allow you to choose a vanity URL (or short URL), but I've heard that this is something they will most likely add in the future. You can search for any page though by just using the search bar at the top of your profile.

If you are a blogger, head on over to the Google Plus community I created called Bloggers Connect! It is such a great way to get yourself familiar with Google Plus and discuss things with other bloggers.

I hope this helped some of you out! What are your thoughts on Google Plus?

  3. This idea for a post is great as so many people are trying to find new ways to connect with people in case GFC really does get cut. I think I'm going to use bloglovin' more than Google+ as I find it really hard to get used to! Although saying that, I'm pretty sure I had that opinion of Twitter at first and now I'm obsessed!

  4. Ah, perfect timing! I was just trying to figure that out...and got yelled at by Google for accidentally trying to make "my" page my blog page. Ugh. I hate how they're forcing us to join yet another social media site but I might as well go with it like a sheep in the herd.

  5. THANKS!! See, I didn't even know you could create a "page" (and I bet that's the difference between the "follow" and "add to circles" button, which I could not figure out).
