5 Healthy Lifestyle Changes Anyone Can Make

I’m really bad at committing to things for extended periods of time, which is why sometimes my fitness levels fluctuate. Over the past few months though, I’ve become pretty accustomed to doing a few small things here and there that have really been adding up and contributing to a healthier lifestyle. If you’ve ever thought that you don’t have time to start a  new routine, then these tips are definitely for you. Anybody can do these and they only take a change of thought to accomplish.

Drink more water

Do you drink the recommended 8 glasses of water a day? I am guilty of not drinking that much, but lately I have been trying much harder to increase my water intake. I set a timer to go off every 2 hours on my phone reminding me to drink up! I’ve found this to help immensely because a lot of the time I will be so busy in my tasks that I completely forget about hydrating! Try it!

Stop drinking soda

By now you should know about all of the concerns with soda (or “pop” as my fellow Canadians call it!), so it should be a no brainer to try to cut it out of your diet. Unfortunately, it’s sometimes tough. Especially if you’ve been drinking it often for a long time. I used to drink a can of Coke just about every single day, years ago. I found the easiest way to stop was to just do it cold turkey. Swap that can of sugar with a simple water or water infused with fruit! You’ll get used to it and even start to favor it over anything else… trust me!

Replace sweets with fruit

We all get sugar cravings, it’s part of our make up as humans. It’s actually really easy to grab a piece of fruit instead of a chocolate bar or candy. Just make sure your fridge is stocked with some of your favourite natural sweets and limit the tempting junk foods in your cupboards!

Stand up more

How many hours do you spend behind a desk or sitting on your butt? It’s important to remember to get up and move around every so often. Take a stroll around your office or a quick walk on your lunch break. Whenever you don’t have to be sitting, stand up and move! Easy!

Park farther away

Why do we always look for the parking space that is closest to the entrance? Parking farther away means making a little extra effort to get moving. If you make this conscious choice when you visit the grocery store or your office, you’ll find that it can become easily engrained in your mind when going anywhere.

What else do you think you could add to this list to live a healthier or more active lifestyle?
