Focus on Yourself
I think one of the things that drags us into Negativity World is involving ourselves in other people’s drama. While it’s okay to be a listening ear, it does become a problem once you start feeding on that negativity. I know when other people are being miserable I find myself becoming miserable. This causes my creativity to be blocked and then suddenly, my positivity is sucked right out. Focusing on yourself is a great way to help you be more positive because you can then focus on what makes you happy: what you want to do, what you want to accomplish, etc.

Start Your Mornings With a Clear Mind
It’s easy to wake up in a bad mood and be negative for the rest of the day. The best thing I can suggest is to leave all of yesterday’s worries in Yesterday Land because you can’t go there. You can only focus on the present and future, so start your mornings with a clear and happy mind! Think of what you are grateful for whether it be having a full tank of gas (oddly satisfying), having a cute dress you can wear, your family or simply how far you have come! Positive morning thoughts can change your entire day.

Brush Things Off
I’ve had my fair share of telling my hopes and dreams to others, only to have them give me their rain cloud and 2 cents about my life. And it used to crush me. Raining on someone’s parade isn’t nice and is a great way to make someone negative about themselves and their goals. But then one day I started standing up for myself. I learned how to explain myself without being angry or sassy. I learned how to brush off negative comments because I learned to only say positive things back! It’s amazing how once you begin a positive outlook, negative things simply don’t bother you as much. If someone is going to be negative, that is their business, not yours!

Smile at the Little Things
If we spend the whole week waiting for the weekend and all of winter waiting for summer and all of our time waiting for a holiday – we really start missing out. Life shouldn’t be about waiting for these moments we think are going to bring us great joy. The weekend will pass, summer will pass and your holiday isn’t going to be forever – so it seems to me like it’s a whole lot of time wasted waiting for things. Life is about making the little things, the little moments, just as special as the big things. It’s up to us to make everyday a good day and for us to be positive about our lives. The little things make up the big things so forget about waiting for the weekend – you can do fun and amazing things during the week too!

Look on the Bright Side
The best way to be more positive is to combat negativity by looking on the bright side. It may seem hard because things do suck sometimes but really, those crappy moments are going to be behind you soon enough, and you have the rest of your life to look forward to.
