I used to dye my hair consistently and never gave it a second thought. I’m not sure what changed, but after growing my natural hair colour out, it took me about 3 years to dive back into the dye again. After that experience, I let my hair grow out yet again, which is the hair you have all come to know.
I had been thinking about changing things up again, but for some reason had a hard time parting with my natural shade. I think it was all of that growing, and waiting, and growing, and waiting. My hair grows super slowly, so I suppose it was somewhat of an accomplishment or something.
L’Oréal got in touch with me and asked if I wanted to give their Casting Crème Gloss a try. It’s an ammonia-free product with Royal Jelly for a soft shiny touch and lasts up to 28 shampoos. I was intrigued because it wasn’t a permanent dye, so I could go right back to my original colour as it faded or try a new one.
One of their hair colour experts suggested that I try shade 7 Dark Blonde, and although my plan was to go a little lighter, I went along with it. Here’s how it went:
You can see in the Before photo that my hair was pretty uneven. Don’t mind the kinks from my pulled out ponytail (or my ugly hair dye shirt). The ends were lighter than the top and although there were natural highlights, they too were uneven and overall it was just blah.
The Dark Blonde colour seemed to match really well with my natural shade. It lightened it up just slightly and managed to even everything out! I was happy that the change was subtle so it still looked like my hair, only consistent and a little more sun-kissed.
What do you think of the change? I think this product would be perfect for someone who is unsure about a colour they want or, like me, just wants to even things out a little. Since it’s not a long-lasting dye it gives you a little more room to experiment, and it doesn’t have that strong scent when applying it. Is this something you’d try?
