Overcoming Anxiety – My Video Story

My Story: Overcoming Anxiety

As a lot of you know (and many of you don’t), I’ve struggled with a severe anxiety disorder for most of my life. For 5-6 of my more recent years, I fell into a trap of agoraphobia, which meant never wanting to leave my house and feeling ill if I forced myself to. The past 1-2 years have been spent rebuilding my life and overcoming obstacles, so much so that I have been able to rid myself of agoraphobic tendencies and rarely experience the severe anxiety spells that I used to.

I’ve wanted to create a video like this for so long, so when I was approached by Lady Speed Stick to create a short video sharing a struggle I had gone through that ultimately led to a triumph, it was the extra push I needed to actually do it!

This is a very personal issue for me, and I do what I can to share my journey on this blog in an effort to help others who may be experiencing the same problems.

Keep going, keep trying. Whatever your goal…. You can do it!

  1. I’m struggling to overcome anxiety right now- It’s been a lifelong journey and although I’ve made lots of progress I still don’t feel ‘normal’.

I have a phobia of driving which stops me from being fully independent, I really struggle to concentrate at work which has had an impact on my career, and I have dermatillomania (compulsive skin picking) which hurts my self esteem.

It’s a constant effort to get in the car every day, tell myself I’m worth more than hurting my skin, and combat the negative thoughts that I’m messing up at work. But I’m fighting.

Thank you for sharing your story- it really great that you’re normalizing talking about anxiety and inspiring others with your success. Keep fighting and loving yourself!
